Kevin Henry, Cheif Executive Officer · Food Fight

Since he started as an accountant with Food Fight, Kevin Henry has seen the company evolve from a start-up to a leader in the industry, but what he believes is most important and what he's most proud of is what hasn't changed: Food Fight's dedication to hospitality and ensuring that their employees have well-paying, dependable jobs, as well as the belief that the leaders within the company should be owners of the company. Kevin spent his early childhood in Platteville, Wisconsin, first on a farm and later adjacent to a motel. Both properties were owned and run by his parents, and he credits the experience with instilling a strong work ethic. "I grew up filling the soda machine, making beds, folding laundry and working the front desk." While in high school, he landed a job as a dishwasher and later a cook at Ed's Café. "I remember loving the feeling of camaraderie I had working in a restaurant." After graduating from UW-Platteville with a degree in accounting, Kevin moved to Madison to work for a then little-known restaurant group (five restaurants at the time) looking for an accountant. While his skill set and experience could easily translate to any industry, it's clear that Kevin's love of restaurants is central to what keeps him engaged and inspired. "Everything about a restaurant is about creating an experience. Many people go there to get that sense of family. It's great going to a place where you know the people working there and they know you." Additionally, Kevin is passionate about Food Fight's role as a philanthropic force in Madison: "We are huge contributors to our community, donating gift cards, chef auctions. We volunteer our time to teach kids about the hospitality business and partner with organizations like Meals on Wheels and Second Harvest Food Bank to make sure that people who need a meal, get a meal."
