Creating Healthy Habits One Bite at a Time
The YMCA of Dane County and the Food Fight Restaurant Group have come together to make it easier for families to choose healthy, great tasting food when dining out at favorite local restaurants.
In support of the Y5210 program, the restaurant group has developed a set of kids’ meals that reflect the American Medical Association and American Academy of Pediatrics standards. Kids’ meals will offer water or low fat milk for a beverage, will highlight a fruit or veggie option and will contain less than 8 grams of sugar. The menu items featured will contain whole grains and no foods are fried or pre fried.

At the YMCA of Dane County, Inc. we are committed to reaching out and touching as many lives as we can, so that we can improve the quality of life for ALL within our area by moving the mark on huge societal issues such as youth obesity, academic readiness and total family health. The YMCA is the best equipped nonprofit service organization to effect change.
Our focus is on kids and families beginning at birth, helping to prepare them for kindergarten and support them through their school age years, before, during, after school and summers. We partner with schools as the leading feeder program to their elementary programs providing nationally recognized comprehensive curriculum because we believe all children deserve the best chance to be successful.
We believe the values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for quality of life and future success, making for confident kids today, contributing and engaged adults tomorrow.
